​The movement of particles and the constant force acting on rocks and other surfaces by the wind can modify the landscape. Garden is an art project that explores how air currents can transform and impact the ecosystem in which we live. Using satellite measurements, I extracted the shape of the wind and sculpted it on a large scale on the hillside behind the Contemporary Art Centre of Quito. I then sowed dandelion seeds (Taraxacum officinale) within this contained form, allowing the plant and the wind to break through these limits over time.

This creates a living body with multiple stages. Once the plants have grown, the wind will naturally disperse the seeds and the direction in which the dandelions grow will reveal the direction in which the wind has been blowing.

 

The initial defined form of the garden remains as a trace of the beginning and allows us to see, over time, how this new ecosystem took shape and broke free of these limits. The garden is considered a meditation or a riddle arising from the intentional impossibility of containing the uncontainable.
