A hidden warmth between the particles

The Atmosphere, the Sun, Jamie, the Dew, the Rain and beyond

Inspired by the artist’s transition from Ecuador’s seasonless climate to the cyclical seasons of the UK, the work explores how we form relationships with the non-human environment. Through contemplative, site-specific interactions, the project develops strategies to sense and visualise what the artist calls 'Atmospheric Beings': ephemeral phenomena produced by rain, dew, sunlight, wind and more.

Over the past two years, the artist has compiled a substantial collection of photographs and videos documenting these atmospheric beings: fleeting light and water phenomena that appear throughout the seasons. These beings emerge when dew or raindrops, collected on site, act as tiny sky-viewing lenses, revealing their ever-changing forms from above, at, and below the horizon.

Each video and photo in the series is unique, shaped entirely by the weather. Some of these phenomena disappear quickly, while others last longer. Filming has become a ritual involving climbing a hill to find a clear view and attuning to the rhythms of the atmosphere.
